This is my first external hard drive and is very easy to connect. . . Plug and Play. . . the computer USB cable that came with it is 22 “long … … and I thought I measured it best when sitting behind my computer back … because the USB cable from my computer arrives very well that way and is easier to access the on / off button … I have a desktop Mac OS X Tiger, with 10.. 4 11 … I do not have the Time Machine application … I use my new LaCie Grand manually backup my data / files of pictures and videos .. etc … just click “save as” … as you would a memory stick, or whatever, and there is … Click Save to LaCie “… and you have … very easy … This little machine is very quiet too … like and what I recommend … PS did not have enough USB connectors on the back of my computer so I bought a small Amazon 4 Mini USB form for $ 6 and it works very well … Rating: 5 / 5

I just bought this hard drive. And I must say that appearance is a very good hard drive. The hard drives face looks good. Type like a mans face. Moreover, the face looks attractive red light on the front of the hard drive, not the bright people who do not worry. The face and back plastic unit feels cheap about it. The body of the unit is made of aluminum. The unit just feels well made. But their are some things you need to know about this unit. I do not know why these dummy put a very small USB cable in the box. The thing is so small I had to use my camera cable to connect the unit. If you plan on buying the unit be sure to buy a mini USB cable with the unit. The unit has rubber feet economic sense in the bottom of the unit, not a big deal to some, but for me it is. No reason to keep our feet so cheap. This unit comes with a stand not wish it did because I do not have much desk space. You can set upright instead of flat. . Just set in your other hard drives for the safety of the unit. The unit has a power button of Nice on the back so you do not have to leave the unit all day. Now, to format and software. The software is not as bad as in the software SmartWare WD. The first thing I want to do is to use the LaCie Quick Installation is as easy to use. What software is not quickly format the hard disk and put the software and manuals on the LaCie drive. From here you can remove the software or use it. If you do not need to delete the software and your ready to go. I have never used the software, so I can not say about that. I drive for about $ 87 in new sales. It was a hell of a deal for that price. I will update this on reliability in a few months.
